Welcome to the Atlantic Maritimes of Canada, made up of the four Atlantic provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. This is where Canada was born, as settlers explored its eastern coasts and establishing the vibrant Acadian culture that exists here today.

  • About Provinces of Atlantic CanadaOver two million people call the four provinces of Atlantic Canada home. Halifax, Nova Scotia is the most densely populated city with over 350,000 people.

  • Mount Caubvick in Labrador's Torngat Mountains is Atlantic Canada’s highest point at 1,652 metres while no part of PEI rises above 142 metres.

  • The Beothuk, Innu, Inuit, Mi'kmaq, and Maliseet are Atlantic Canada’s aboriginal nations.

  • After constant fighting between France and Great Britain over parts of Atlantic Canada, the British finally prevailed in the culmination of the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763). Today Atlantic Canada has a rich culture born from Aboriginal, French, and British peoples.

  • Atlantic Canada is home to the Bay of Fundy, which has the highest tides in the world that even causes rivers to reverse their rapids.

  • Cabot Trail and Gros Morne National Park, off the Appalachian Mountains offer some of the most spectacular scenery and draw visitors from all over the world.
