Welcome to Riverwood House and Cottages. Riverwood is more than lodging, it is a destination! We offer cozy, quiet lodging in a country garden setting with beaches to enjoy and trails to explore. A friendly and knowledgeable host will assist you in planning your encounter with the soft and soothing southwestern edge of the “Rock.” Our property overlooks Robinson's River and scenic Bay St. George. Just five hundred meters from the Newfoundland Trailway, Riverwood is an excellent jumping off point to explore the natural wonders of the area. We offer a friendly, family atmosphere with playground and picnic facilities, wireless high-speed internet access, beautiful flower gardens all in cozy, scenic surroundings.
Our property offers one spacious four bedroom home as well as two cozy one bedroom and two bedroom cottages.

Partake in our guided day walks, 'Rocks and minerals excursions' or even learn how to make unique twig furniture for your home or garden. If shopping rather than building is more your style, ask about custom pieces available for purchase.
Local Attractions:
From our location, the amateur rock hound can enjoy a day trip to the Ship Cove fossil bed or a walk upstream in Crabbes River to observe the wonders of water as it sculpts its way through a deposit of blue banded gypsum. Numerous local pebble beaches will provide hours of activity to the beachcomber and rock hound in search of a special natural souvenir.
For the fishing enthusiast, the host is a licensed guide who can take you to pools and ponds in the local area for salmon and trout fishing. We have canoe rentals available to our guests, some restrictions apply. To ensure availability, please book in advance.
At Riverwood you can take a full range of walking /hiking experiences. From the leisurely three kilometer walk to the extreme five-day marine mountain coastal hike, guests at Riverwood can use the host as a guide or resource person to plan their excursions.
Is mountain biking more your twist? With advanced booking we can plan day trips to the Anguille Mountains. For the more sedated biking experience, we have a limited number of bike rentals that are suitable for the local roads.
Riverwood house and cottages is just five hundred meters from the Newfoundland Trailway. ATV enthusiasts and other users of the Trailway are welcome. Use the host as a guide or an information source on the Trailway and how to connect to the network of forest access roads.
Getting There:
Route 404, Cartyville, 110 km (68 miles) east of Port aux Basques, 75 km (45 miles) west of Stephenville, 125 km (75) miles west of Corner Brook, 500 meters west at the Cartyville intersection on the Newfoundland Trailway.
