After extensive renovations in 2009/2010 our house now shines as the only 4 star**** country inn in St. Peter's and the surrounding area. As the "A. MacDonald Country Inn" can look back at a long history, the present owner, Beate Hassold, made sure that the historical charm was infused with modern comfort. Here, you will find the perfect balance between historical charm and modern comfort and convenience.
In the renovations, we took great care to use environmentally friendly products, so that every guest will feel pampered and comfortable throughout their stay, right down to the anti allergenic duvets and pillows. The fully licensed dining room menu provides many choices, making sure that every taste can be satisfied. We pride ourselves on using the freshest local ingredients, specializing in lobster and other seafood. The delicious desserts will dazzle your taste buds. All of this will make your vacation an unforgettable island experience.

St. Peter’s is one of the transition points between the Atlantic coast and the Bras d”or Lakes. These two are connected through the historic St. Peter’s Canal built in 1854. National Geographic magazine rated Cape Breton as North Americas most beautiful islands and as one of the three most beautiful islands in the world for its amazing scenery and stunning vistas!

Tena’s Suite offers a king size bed (1.8m x 2.0m) and TV in the main bed room area, plus a corner sleeper couch and a second TV in the separate living area. The en suite bathroom offers a bathtub/shower for you to relax and enjoy. We decorated this extraordinary suite with nature colors and maple laminate flooring. Light colored and friendly furniture gives it a vibrant and fresh look. A lot of real wood was used in the decorating of the suite making it feel cozy and truly Canadian. The bedroom has 2 queen size beds (1.6mx1.95m), a TV and an electric fireplace. The living area contains a flip over sleeper couch, a TV and a kitchenette with microwave, toaster oven, fridge and tableware. The en suite bathroom offers a bathtub/shower to relax and enjoy. Water sports enthusiasts and sailors find St. Peter’s to be the perfect vacation spot as the marina is only a few minutes away. From our location enjoy a trip to the Fortress of Louisbourg, a National Historic site; a day trip on the famous Cabot Trail one of North America’s most beautiful coastal roads; or 18 holes at one of the wonderful golf courses nearby. Golfers can take an easy day trip to the Number 1 rated Highland Links golf course in beautiful Ingonish. You may also choose to relax and enjoy one of the beautiful beaches in the area.
If you are heading out exploring for the day, we can even pack you a delicious lunch to take along; just talk to us in advance and let us know of any dietary restrictions you might have.
