Nestled in a secluded valley at the end of Doyle's Road, just 2 km from the Cabot Trail and the Hamlet of Margaree Forks, The OLD MILLER GUEST HOUSE is an excellent location for exploring beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia or serving as a base for travelers to "get lost in the Margarees".
We have converted our former B&B into a Four Star Canada Select Guest House. This Guest House is located across the driveway from the main home. The kitchen, fully equipped, contains a dishwasher, stove, frig, microwave and small convection oven as well as all the cooking and dinner utensils, towels and cleaning supplies one would need. A BBQ and laundry facilities are also supplied.
The two bedrooms, each with a four piece bathroom, ('ensuite'), are upstairs. One bedroom contains a Queen sized bed, the other twin beds and a double futon/couch. The facility can sleep a maximum of six. Although not wheelchair accessible, the stairs leading to the second floor have hand rails on each side and are accessible for people with some ambulatory difficulties. All bed linens and towels are supplied as are beach towels.
There is an exit to a small deck on the second floor and an external staircase. Besides the kitchen, the main floor has a large sitting room that is excellent for relaxing, reading or watching Satellite T.V., (Star Choice). A computer offering high speed Internet access is available at no charge to our guests as is high speed wireless connectivity for those bringing their own laptops! Free long distance telephone service to the US and Canada makes it easy to keep in touch with friends and family back home!

The first bedroom has a queen size bed and the second features twin beds and a double futon to accommodate a total of up to six guests. The fully equipped kitchen contains a dishwasher, stove, fridge, microwave and small convection oven, along with all the cooking and dinner utensils needed. A BBQ, washer/dryer, linens, including beach towels and cleaning supplies are provided for your comfort and convenience. We provide complimentary wireless internet access and offer a computer with high speed internet access for those not bringing their own laptop. Satellite TV, VCR, DVD player and a selection of books and games are also available. FREE phone calls within Canada/USA. Please note, housekeeping service is not provided during your stay.

Things to do:
Catch your dinner and make memories fishing for Speckled and Rainbow trout in our stocked fishing pond. Fish are charged by the pound and there is a limited amount of equipment for rent if you don't bring yours along.
Local Attractions:
Our property is an excellent location to come and go as one pleases, accessing the numerous beaches and whale excursions along the Gulf Coast, kayaking, day tripping to hiking trails locally and in the Highlands, visiting the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Baddeck or the Highland Village in Iona as well as the Puffin Tours out of Englishtown or Seal Island or the “Fab 4 Golf Courses’! Of course, there is still the mandatory circumnavigation of the Trail, (which can take one or several days). Even Fortress Louisburg can be visited on a scenic day trip.
For those planning summer travel, please be aware that there is a lot to do and see on Cape Breton. We have only highlighted a few of the numerous attractions. The biggest complaint guests make is that they left too little time to really see what is available! Roads are twisty with a view around every turn, hiking trails abound, waterfalls call, beaches, fresh water and ocean, beckon. And one does get lost in the Margarees!
