Sandpiper Cottages and Suites is in Stanhope and is perfectly located on the north shore of PEI right at the center of the island. We are just outside the PEI National Park, a short 5-minute walk from Stanhope Cape Beach and within minutes of many other North Shore beaches. Covehead Lighthouse and Harbour are within easy walking distance. Cavendish is a 20 minute drive east of us and Charlottetown is a 15 minute drive south. East Point, North Cape and West Point can all be visited on day trips.

Our regular cottages have recently been upgraded and are beautifully decorated. The walls are finished with panelled wainscotting and lovely wallpaper. There are wood floors throughout.

They have two bedrooms, with a queen bed in one room and a twin and a double bed in the other. The kitchens are fully equipped with everything you will need including full size fridges and stoves as well as microwaves, coffee pots and toasters. All bathroom, bedroom and kitchen linens are supplied.

There is a sofa bed in the livingroom along with TV, VCR and DVD player. The outside deck has outdoor furniture and a gas barbecue.

Our superior cottages are finished in tongue and groove pine and are beautifully decorated. They feature gas fireplaces in the living areas and have thermostatically controlled baseboard heating.

Our air-conditioned suites are part of a main building, each with their own separate entrance. They are finished with panelled wainscotting combined with wallpaper and are beautifully decorated. The living room floors are wood.

They have two bedrooms, with a double bed in one room and two twin beds in the other. The kitchenettes are fully equipped with half size fridges and stoves as well as coffee pots and toasters. All bathroom, bedroom and kitchen linens are supplied.

There is a sofa bed in the living room along with TV and VCR. Just outside the door there is a barbecue and picnic table.

The suites are the perfect place for larger groups. Like brighton hotels, they are comfortable, spacious and situated in a great location. The suites have been a favourite for family reunions over the years as the private yard in the back is a great place to have get-togethers and family dinners. We love seeing all of the picnic tables pushed together and everyone having so much fun!

This newly renovated executive is actually two fully equipped suites but it is more often rented as one 3-bedroom unit. Perfect for the family who enjoy tons of space in their vacation unit or for two families travelling together, it boasts a separate full-size kitchen and a huge living room. Amenities include air conditioning, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer.

Bedroom #1 has a queen bed and a fireplace, bedroom #2 has a twin/double bunk bed and an ensuite 1/2 bath. Bedroom #3 has two twin beds and a lovely sitting area along side the main 3-piece bathroom.

There are two decks. The front deck is huge and beautiful in the afternoon sun. The back deck is private and fully screened.

Children & Extra Guest Policy:

Our rates include 4 adults and we do not charge for children under 17 yrs. There is a charge for each additional adult.

Reception Information:

We are a family owned and operated business and we live on the property. We close the front office/reception between 8-9 pm each evening but the laundry room, movie rentals, common area room and library are all open 24 hours with the "honour system" in effect. We appreciate our guests letting us know if they will be late arriving so that we can make arrangements to accommodate them.

Business Facilities:

We have Wi-Fi on the property and from within all of our cottages and suites. There is a computer, printer, copier, phone and fax machine in the office for customer use.

Car Parking:

Each of our cottages has its own driveway for parking and the suites have ample parking available along the front of the building.

Local Attractions:

Covehead Harbour has deep sea fishing excursions leaving 3 times daily in the summer months. There is also an outdoor restaurnat and ice cream bar on the Harbour. Stanhope Golf course is right around the corner from us and the Stanhope Promenade is a lovely walking and biking trail around Covehead Bay. We are located just outside of the PEI National Park which has miles and miles of sandy beaches as well as beautiful walking and biking trails. There are many organized activities in the park over the summer months. Cavendish and all of the attractions are within a 20 minute drive and we are located just 15 minutes north of PEI's largest city and the home of Confederation, Charlottetown.

Getting There:

Driving from Confederation Bridge and Borden Gateway Village, follow #1 east for 52 km. Just past the PEI Outlet Mall, turn left on the Charlottetown Bypass. Follow Hwy #2 east towards Souris, past the airport. Turn left at the Kentucky Fried Chicken (#2 Hwy) and travel towards Souris for 3 km. Turn left at the big RED roofed building - Jewells (Hwy #25) and proceed north for 14 km. At the service station, stay left on Hwy #25 for 4 km. DO NOT ENTER THE NATIONAL PARK. Turn right on MacMillan Lane. Go to Roberts Rd. (5th road on your right). Turn right. The Sandpiper and the office are at the end of Roberts Rd. on the left hand side Welcome to your home away from home!! Driving from the Wood Island ferry, follow #1 to Charlottetown (approx 60 km). At Stratford, cross the Hillsborough Bridge and turn right. There will be oil tanks on your right hand side. Follow North River Road past the hospital on your right until you see a sign for Hwy #2 to Souris. Turn right at Kentucky Fried Chicken (#2 Hwy) and travel towards Souris for 3 km. Turn left at the big RED roofed building - Jewells (Hwy #25) and proceed north for 14 km. At the service station, stay left on Hwy #25 for 4 km. DO NOT ENTER THE NATIONAL PARK.
